Cost of Living + Horses 🐴💸

At Hillside, we started with a simple but frustrating problem: finding a pair of riding leggings that actually worked for the average size 12 rider. I wanted leggings that had belt loops, wouldn’t roll down, didn’t cut me in half with tight elastic, and included a practical, secure pocket. Oh, and they needed a sticky bum that wouldn’t take my undies along for the ride! All of this, without needing to re-mortgage my house. 😅

After 18 months of research, sketching, testing, and plenty of determination, the Double Zip Riding Leggings were born. But of course, it wasn’t smooth sailing from there! The samples I received were far from perfect. Not once, but several times, I received versions that didn’t meet my standards. Finally, the last sample arrived, and it was just right. 🎯

Then came the self-doubt: “Who am I to start my own brand? What if no one likes them? What have I done?” But after over a year of trialing them—riding, washing, and testing them through every scenario—I knew they were ready.

I created some social media accounts, started sharing the word, and that's when Hillside was born! 🌱

I will continue to battle for affordability because that’s what Hillside is all about. We have one of the most expensive hobbies out there, and we all need to be realistic in a financial world that sometimes feels like it's against us. The clothing we wear to muck out shouldn’t cost the same as our first car! 🚗💰
